Beck Channel Negotiations

For budgetary reasons I'm without cable TV at this time. Not a big heartbreak; I don't give a damn for sports (I'm one of approximately 15 straight men in the US like that) and find 99.9% of all TV programming a waste of electrons.

But I really miss The Daily Show (and Colbert, too, though to a lesser extent). And this piece was. Just. Fucking. BRILLIANT. Talk about channeling someone's character... Great work on the part of the whole crew, from Stewart on down.

The only problem is that the sheeple who need to see it aren't the type to watch the show (though there's a significant percentage of those folks who wouldn't get the point; the "hey, he sounds a little like Glenn Beck! Wonder why that is" types).

But I found it hilarious. Thanks for sharing it.

The only sport I ever watch is MMA. Also, if it weren't for the need to keep our wars calm and focused on something then we wouldn't have TV either. But when you have two mentally ill people living with you it's nice to have the distraction. I just watch Colbert and Stewart on Hulu. I also subscribe to Countdown and Rachel's podcasts. No need for the TV really.

I should set bookmarks for the Stewart & Colbert shows. Like me, my PC is aging and tired (unlike me, though, I plan to replace it). Most video, whether streaming or prefab, plays poorly, if at all (for example, I wasn't able to watch the Kos v Tancredo cage match here, though the audio was sufficient for me to know what went on - and enjoy every second). However, the Comedy Central show clips play fairly well - a glitch here and there, but mostly watchable.

I too download the Countdown and Maddow audio podcasts (only trick there is the timing - each 'cast is available only 'til the next one posts, which usually is only an hour or three after the live show. Gotta stay on top of 'em). Audio only is good enough for me.

I'll have to browse your previous activity; apparently I missed something about your home life. My sympathies for any home front issues you must bear, sir.
