Letters To & From The Publisher

The "Publisher's Pen" segment in the latest issue was titled "The Message From Massachusetts." It actually prompted me to write my first letter (well, email) in response to an editorial.
Of course, I managed to screw it up.
Read on...
I have some questions regarding our "Publisher's Pen" piece in the most recent issue of "Up & Coming Weekly." (Volume 15, Issue 4)You wrote, "It's about the Constitutional rights and wishes of the people being so blatantly and arrogantly trampled or totally ignored. They don't want Obamacare..."
1. To which Constitutional rights are you referring?
2. Which "wishes" are you talking about?
3. How are they being "trampled?"
4. What is "blatant" and "arrogant" about the manner in which you perceive them being "trampled?"
5. You mention "the people." Which "people" are these?
6. What, exactly, is this "Obamacare" of which you speak?
I hope you will be able to find the time to answer my few questions, as I know you're busy being part of the elitist, Liberal media that is so rampant in this great country of ours.
To the publisher's credit he provided a very prompt emial reply:
Craig,Thanks for the note and for reading the Up & Coming Weekly. I was excited about responding to your letter until I got to the last paragraph and realized you were just being playful and sarcastic. Please note that we are a "community" newspaper and not part of anything liberal or otherwise. If you want to do some serious opinion writing and share your views with the community send them on. For fifteen years, we have welcomed and respected such contributions. My office is always open if you want to come and visit.
Whoopsie!
My "hilarious" closing sentence gave this fellow a "get out of jail free" card to not respond to my request for clarification.
In fact, the whole "mainstream media has a liberal bias" was about the only robo-talking-point he failed to include.
Time to man up and recognize my faux pas. Here is my follow-up email:
Thanks so much for writing back.OK, ya got me. I shot myself in the foot with the last sentence.
But, seriously, I WOULD like to know what your responses to question #1 - #6 are.
These seemingly empty, meaningless phrases keep popping up and I sincerely would like to know about this Constitutional trampling and the wishes of the people. And, really, what, exactly is "Obamacare?"
So, please, if you could disreagard the final sentence of my original email, I sincerely would appreciate your expanding on these points.
And thank you for your role in providing our community with a free weekly arts and entertainment publication.
I think I included a much better final sentence this time, don't you think?
Anyhoo, if I get any sort of a response, I'll update in the comments section.
But, seriously, folks, does anybody have any idea about this grave threat to the constitution I keep hear about?
