Reminds me of my time in the military. When there was guys like SPIRAL in the ranks, we felt we had our act together, so to the guys on the other side 'let's have it'.  (based on my aversion to G. Bush, I can no longer type the words "bring it on".

If the products cause harm they should be immediately pulled and an investigation into how it made it unto the market should be made. This is the reason I am a staunch advocate of regulation. The FDA should have "real power" and the position should not be filled based on scientific qualification, not political affiliation. Corporations have too much power and the Constitution should be amended to remedy this. Again, regulation, regulation, regulation. It is important for the safety of our citizens.

GMOs have benefits too. They can be used to increase crop production to help feed poorer nations.

These site bring up issues surrounding the concept of GMOs. Both sides need to be talked about clearly and without rhetoric or bias. I try to avoid sites from companies promoting GMOs or incendiary sounding ones like saynotogmos.com. I also avoid sites that have anti-technology biases and try to get a clear picture of how scientists working in these areas look at the evidence and what they think.

There have been REAL problems and issues with monsantos products. In cases like this action should be taken and it should be severe.

Many new technologies are treated with fear. Irrational fear is not helpful to progress. A lot of the sites I visited that were very severely against GMOs were using fear to promote their agenda. These I skipped. There were sites obviously enamored with and or promoting the use of GMOs. These I skipped. I tried looking at the more rational site. I agree that there are concerns, but I also see the benefits. So, like I said, Careful consideration must be given before allowing a certain GMO to be used. There are valid concerns about them negatively effecting the food chain, and this should be taken into consideration. There are also valid benefits and these too should be weighed when OKing a GMO for use.

Deregulation ala Reagan style governance was a license for recklessness to big business. We need to change that and we need to do it soon.

I for one, have no problem eating GMO food once it is correctly scrutinized and approved. I know that the issue is that this has not been the case in some circumstances. Let's fix what's broke with the system instead of killing a potentially VERY beneficial science.
