Just one suggestion for the future.  I would love to have a way to follow certain bloggers that I find exceptional.  Will you have a way to let us "Favorite" a blogger in the future?

I echo the comments above, especially a "let the author edit his/her post" facility; I'm pretty anal-retentive about my editing (you have no idea how bad I get), but a clinker may still get by me.

Re the "chronological order" request - any way to add a calendar, like many blogs? Click the date, see all the posts du jour...

As to the caption contests - I agree re having a separate section for them. Also, once the contest has ended, why not move the pic and its winning caption(s) to a separate gallery section? You might also consider deleting the rest of the caption contest thread (though some narcissistic contributors may be offended by such heresy); at least relocating the thread would be helpful in cleaning up the home page.  

Is a whole separate one created just for that diary?   S'plain please?

An open letter to Harold Estes:
  Dear Mr. Estes,
Let me start by thanking you for your service. It is because of brave men and women such as you that we are able to undertake the task we are about to do. We want to start by pointing out that in the letter that you wrote to President Obama there are several errors that need to be corrected.  For starters President Obama never called the police officers in Mass. stupid, he said they acted stupidly. There is a big difference. As parents, we have many times told our children, (many now serving in the military), that they were "acting stupid", in no way were we either implying that they were, or calling them stupid. We were just letting them know that their behavior was out of line. Such was the case with Obama and the police officers. On FOX news it was reported over and over that he had called them stupid, so we can see how you were confused.          
    Secondly, the part about our nation no longer being a Christian nation, we were so impressed with his choice of words.  We believed he represented us as US citizens in what he actually, in full, did say. His statement: "Given the increasing diversity of America's population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation - at least, not just.  We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers" was all inclusive a representation of all Americans (all taxpaying citizens that have a right to be represented) and not just the majority. We believe he could not have said it any better. We are proud of what he did say and we are proud that our president took the intellectual effort not to leave one taxpaying citizen out when representing "all" US citizens when dealing with international diplomats. This is not a country ruled by the majority. This is not a country of majority rule. The Constitution of the United States was written, in large part, to prevent majority rule. The Declaration of Independence was an announcement that there are limitations upon majority rule. For our president to say anything different than what he actually did say would be acting on a specific agenda and not the country in totality. For this reason, he lived up to the founding fathers ideals. For this reason, we believe the founding fathers would give him a standing ovation and for this reason we thank our president, President Obama, for the precise wording he did choose.  Again, FOX took out of context what was actually said and reported it over and over so we can see how you were misled.  You see, if you look at the full context of his speech you can see that he was not saying that we are "not a Christian nation", he was saying that we are not "just" a Christian nation.        
    Next Mr. Estes, we wish to point out where you are taking the quote about America being arrogant out of context.  As I am sure you heard over and over from FOX news and its personalities that Obama said America was "arrogant", you have to see the full context of the quote to understand where you were misled.  It was in a speech to French students on April 4, 2009 where Obama said the following:   "It's always harder to forge true partnerships and sturdy alliances than to act alone, or to wait for the action of somebody else. It's more difficult to break down walls of division than to simply allow our differences to build and our resentments to fester. So we must be honest with ourselves. In recent years we've allowed our Alliance to drift. I know that there have been honest disagreements over policy, but we also know that there's something more that has crept into our relationship. In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive. But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual but can also be insidious. Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what's bad. On both sides of the Atlantic, these attitudes have become all too common. They are not wise. They do not represent the truth. They threaten to widen the divide across the Atlantic and leave us both more isolated. They fail to acknowledge the fundamental truth that America cannot confront the challenges of this century alone, but that Europe cannot confront them without America."    So you see Mr. Estes, President Obama never said we were an arrogant nation, you were just led to believe that he said that.  Please take comfort in knowing that your president does not now feel, nor has he ever felt that we are an arrogant country.          
     Lastly Mr. Estes, your right wing news sources obviously led you astray on the subject of America losing her ideals.  Our president never said we lost our ideals what he did in fact say was in a speech given in Cairo Egypt on June 4th 2009 and we quote:  "And finally, just as America can never tolerate violence by extremists, we must never alter our principles. 9/11 was an enormous trauma to our country. The fear and anger that it provoked was understandable, but in some cases, it led us to act contrary to our ideals. We are taking concrete actions to change course. I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States, and I have ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed by early next year. So America will defend itself respectful of the sovereignty of nations and the rule of law. And we will do so in partnership with Muslim communities which are also threatened. The sooner the extremists are isolated and unwelcome in Muslim communities, the sooner we will all be safer." Mr. Estes, we are sure that you would agree that losing our ideals and straying from them are two totally different things.  When America tortures we become not much better than the terrorists we are fighting.  Torture is not an American ideal.      
     Mr. Estes, we hope that you will find comfort in knowing that this president is nowhere as bad as you have been (mis)-led to believe by your news sources.  We would hope that you would consider broadening you news gathering sources before you unknowingly spread complete falsehoods.
