(Hah. Gotta love good snark. Keep it up! - promoted by leftake)
Last night I caught a tidbit of the Colbert Report titled "Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger". Colbert was covering the ever growing popularity of a conservative website called conservapedia.com, I suggest everyone take a look. After watching Colbert I immediately went to the website to see what all of it was about.
IT IS AMAZING! Finally! There is a check and balance on the obvious liberal bull shit machine known as "wikipedia". I've been waiting for too long for someone to point out the obvious flaws in wikipedia. Its for the liberal, elitist, atheist, corn holing, tea bagging, nazi/fascist/socialist/communist wackos, and its made by demon spawn who have clearly never read the only "good" book, the bible.
Conservapedia finally puts an end to the misinformation being shoved up our children's pee holes. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE YOU NEED BESIDES THE BIBLE! Finally someone did something about it, it only took 2000 years.
There is an absolutely brilliant page about Atheism. Conservapedia debunks this so called "movement". There is a wonderful section that you all need to read about the reasons why people become atheists. A few of the points:
Error: Some argue that atheism partly stems from a failure to fairly and judiciously consider the facts Duh! This is so obvious it doesn't need explaining, but I will anyway. See, you liberals with your library's full of books with "scientific facts" have all missed the most important point, the bible says nothing about library's full of books or the need for "scientific facts". So why waste your short time here on earth reading about "facts" when all you need to know is that you will burn in hell for your "intellect". That one was too easy. Here's another:
Negative experiences with theists This one is just absurd, why would anyone become an atheist just because every week someone comes to your door informing you of the truth of the eternal hell fire that awaits you. They are only trying to help, your only digging your hole deeper by slamming the door on them, you think God didn't see you slam that door? Well he did, and he's not happy about it. The Jews got over their negative experience with theist's, why can't you?!
A photo on the atheist page shows a satirical view of atheism, and I must share, it might change some of your minds:
Atheism: The belief that there was nothing and nothing happened to nothing and then nothing magically exploded for no reason, creating everything and then a bunch of everything magically rearranged itself for no reason whatsoever into self replicating bits which then turned into dinosaurs. Makes perfect sense. EXACTLY! That run on sentence does make perfect sense. If we have learned anything from Fox News, its that if you can't prove your point in less than one nonsensical rambling sentence, then you have no argument and you will be interrupted. Also, if you can't understand a concept like evolution, then nobody else can, and therefore it must be false. Point and match.
Explore the site for yourselves, you might learn something, you liberal nut jobs on the left with your "reason" and "logic", I have one thing to say to you, THE BIBLE DOESN'T USE LOGIC OR REASON, SO OBVIOUSLY GOD DOESN'T WANT US TO USE IT! Git yer heads out of yer liberal elitist asses and read conservapedia now!

I'm glad someone can make me laugh about this, but in reality, its incredibly disheartening.

I found this petition today, and it brought a smile to my face to see people still care that our constitution was raped during the Bush "presidency".

Sign this petition with me and hopefully we can make some progress to put an end to the worst bill ever passed simply because of fear. It is a true disgrace to everything this country stands for.

I want to start a discussion on the idea of incentives. I was in my Economics class today when a discussion began between me and another student on the idea of incentives, he claimed Obama's tax hikes on the rich were eliminating their incentive to keep making money. He immediately started the discussion by saying that Obama's agenda and policies were killing incentives for people to make money, because the tax rate on the upper class was raised by 3%.
I found myself asking him how something as small as 3% possibly deterred anyones incentive to make a few hundred thousand dollars a year just because they have to pay a bit extra, your still making a shit ton more money than the average american, so does a 3% increase really affect your incentives to bring in a little bit more dough? I understand that 3% of a few hundred thousand dollars is a lot of money, but in terms of gross income, its chump change.
I'm of the philosophy that we should give back, this is a fantastic country(at times) and we all have the obligation to give something back. And what makes this country really great is that ability to move yourself from class to class as long as you have to know how to do it.
If you graduate college with an MBA are you going to say to yourself, "I could go trade on Wall Street and make $600,000 a year, but, Obama just raised taxes, so I'm not going to do that, I'm going to find a middle management job making $150,000 a year." No, your not, no one would make that decision, if you can make the money, your going to bust your ass to make the money.
Now, I understand, it can be hard for people making over $250,000 a year, it can be difficult not to get that extra car, or buy that house outright because your taxes were raised, its a tough life, no one is arguing that. But in my opinion if a country gave you the opportunity to get to that level, don't you owe a little bit back? Its not like the money is wasted either. You drive to work every day on roads, paid for by... YOU. What if someone robbed your million dollar mansion? Who are you going to call? The police, paid for by... YOU. If your million dollar mansion gets set on fire by a disgruntled employee, your not putting the fire out by yourself, YOUR taxes are.
I can't imagine the mindset of someone making over $250,000 a year, and whining about it, its greed at its worst, and we see that kind of insensitivity every day in this country.
So there ya go, tell me I'm wrong, I just want to know leftakes opinion on the matter.

There seem to be more and more reasons every single day to just get up and move to Canada, the UK, anywhere but here.

Now, I really doubt that she has any chance of becoming the GOP nominee, but the fact that people are talking about it is just disturbing. What I don't doubt is another VP pick, anyone thinking a Palin/Bachmnann ticket? Now thats a really terrifying thought. But it really seems like the females in the GOP might be the only ones with a chance to make a run. Although thats mostly for the same reasons that Michael Steele is the GOP chairman, the Republicans are just grabbing for anything that makes it seem as though they are the party of "change". How am I expected to be proud of my country when someone like Sarah Palin, or Michele Bachmann has an interest and a possible chance to get their name on a presidential ticket. Can anyone just imagine the turmoil this country would be in if one of these women came within 100 ft of the white house. I just shiver at the thought. Lets do whatever we can to make sure this doesn't happen.

Congress is going to be back in session soon, and they have two big obstacles to overcome, healthcare legislation, and the new attempt to fix the world at least a little bit, cap and trade. I have a vague understanding of what it does, sell carbon emissions to corporations, if they go unused you can sell them to companies who need more. The right is saying that this is a job killer, and of course, I've seen nothing to back up this claim, I've stopped expecting evidence, I started to suspect they like to talk only from their ass with that whole "weapons of mass destruction" thing that has since led to thousands of unnecessary deaths in a country where we simply don't belong. So anyway what I wanted to do with this diary was open up a conversation about cap and trade, I wanted to get your opinions, what you know about it, what you like about it, what you don't like about it, just anything you have to say about it.

Just when I was beginning to think that the lies about healthcare reform were finally coming to an end I read this article.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/b...
This is exactly what we need, first they tell us that the government is going to kill my grandma, and now they are claiming that women with breast cancer will die, nothing else to it, they'll just die, because of months long waiting lines. And of course there is no evidence whatsoever to support the smear, but when has that ever stopped the right from taking an "argument" way too far? And what's worse is people like John McCain, a man who I used to respect, commenting in a town hall about how women in Britain die from breast cancer because they can't see a doctor. When a seemingly reasonable man like that talks starts to support a smear, I can't even imagine how quickly Limbaugh, and Fox "News" are going to start beating this bloodied horse further into the ground.
