Obama Listens to the Right!  Gets Government out of Health Care.

by Jessica Ramsaran

President Obama has finally let the Right have their way.  He slowly held up a white flag and signed a paper removing the government from the Health Care Industry.  Immediately, hundreds of thousands of Veteran and Active Duty Military found themselves without health care and scrambling to find it.  Cpl Andrew Fillings said "I went to Blue Cross/Shield, and they denied my because of the head trauma I suffered while in Iraq.  My wife doesn't qualify either because of the anti-depressants she was put on while she dealt with our three kids alone during my 18 month deployment."

Some people did find it, but they just couldn't afford it.  Pvt. Michelle Steves said "I just got in.  They don't pay a Pvt that much at all.  How could I afford 40 dollar co-pays on top of the 1600 a month I have to pay because my job is considered "dangerous"?

The elderly found themselves in a similar predicaments.  "We are in the hospital for illnesses and are too sick to leave.  Our bill started racking up the second President Obama signed that law and we just don't know how we will pay for it," said Tim and Eunice Fren.

Tomorrow the President plans to go find a group insurance policy to cover an aging Congress and Supreme Court.  The President himself, with his health and just as healthy family, will probably have no problem finding insurance.  The President may have to actually quit smoking though.

Watching the Neighborhood Die

by: jramsaran

September 01, 2009 9:18 PM

I live in a meager neighborhood.  The houses are small, the families are hard working types.  Three police officers live within one block.  It is not the ghetto, but it is also not by any means Orange County.

This year, our electric went up 50%.  Unemployment in my county also hit 13.5%.  The housing market forced a lot of foreclosures.  One in 4 houses on my street are for sale.

Next year the electric bill is going up another 30%.

People can't afford to live any dream, let alone the "American Dream"

People want to say that the middle class "over-extended" themselves.

Where did the middle class sign up for 42% energy cost increases per year average over the past 8 years?

Where did the middle class sign up for unemployment?

Where did the middle class sign up for exponential health care cost increases?

My neighbors are being run out of their homes, my neighborhood grows empty.

These people weren't over-extended...these people were systematically drowned...

Is "Cash for Clunkers" Proof that Trickle Up Works?

by: jramsaran

August 31, 2009 8:54 PM

When Bush implemented his tax cuts for the rich, the outcome was supposed to be simple: economic growth due to the trickle down effect (well i guess technically the cuts started back during Reagan, but we that's another discussion).

As Obama started calling for repeal of the tax cuts, there was outrage.  How were employers supposed to pay for there workers!!?  Giving tax breaks to the lower classes cannot stimulate!  Trickle up economics does not work!  Give the money to the businesses so that they can afford to hire people!!

The tax breaks for the wealthy lead to what?  A recession...a bad one at that.  Businesses did not take their tax money and hire new people.  They simply added it to their profit column--makes the business look good.  People want to see the business do even better (well...shareholders at least), so businesses outsource, lay off, cut cost to make the profits look good.

As the US workers were laid off, their income was stifled.  They stopped buying things.  Businesses laid off even more...the cycle continues....

This year the government implemented the "Cash for Clunkers" program.  It was terribly underfunded-that was obvious.  But just that small amount generated a huge uptake in sales, to the point that manufacturers had to re-hire laid-off workers to keep up with demand.  What seems to be missing is the analysis of what happened.  The government put extra money into the hands of the middle class, and the response was economic growth!  It trickled UP!

Putting money into the hands of wealthy businesses does little to nothing...they do not SPEND.

Consumers, the middle class, spend.  They buy the things that encourage growth.

Your thoughts?
