Tossing salad,soot,haggis and cults

by: lamb12

February 20, 2010 2:38 PM

Bill Maher is back and his New Rules segment last night was excellent! Maybe this will get a certain troll or two debating the merits of Tea, possibly haggis, and what in the hell has been taken from them in the last year. I'd sure as hell like them to explain just exactly what they've had pried away from them, wouldn't you???

I know, I know, don't post video only, but, I really think Colbert has summed it up. Bunch of hypocrites.Got to fire Rahm, he was offensive, how could he say something like that?? Rush, however is excused due to satire?? Uhhm...is she retarded??

I don't like the word, but, people use it all the time, and if she is going to shoot off the hip a let's fire this person for saying it,but, turn around and defend another who says the same word, then she is the Queen of hypocrisy.

I swear my ovaries cringe everytime she opens her mouth.

This is another great reason we all love the Daily Show.  I wonder what Fox, Malkin,Deusi (sp?), O'Reilly and those 31 Republicans think now?

O'Keefes lawyers are now saying It was a joke, they did it to see if they could get in and tape them laughing, about not answering phones when constituents call Landrieu's office.

So let's all sit and see what happens. His Tweets, are coming back to bite him in his Conservative butt.

One last thing, How could anybody, think he looked like a pimp? Nerd Alert, folks, Nerd Alert!!!

Thank You Jon Stewart for putting humor into the mundane political  shenanigans and spin of EVERYONE in the political world.

Stupak, Pitts, more than the abortion amendment

by: lamb12

November 10, 2009 5:57 PM

Ok, so this was on Rachel last night. I think this deserves everyones attention. Is this what we want our country to become? If you have not read Jeff Sharlet's book, The Family The Secret Fundamentalism at the heart of American Government, you might want to pick it up the nest time you are at the bookstore.

Not Engaging.....what happened???

by: lamb12

November 01, 2009 8:18 PM

Ok group, what happened??
I thought we all decided unanimously to not respond to any NN, SPIRAL15,matrix,gaydrissel,JimmyZ, folk, group, dude, dudettes, or whoever is on duty for the days', pilfered Youtube videos, w/ no cred to the source, old data, pics from horrific world events used  to portray what things are like today, and mocking it with no regard for the lives involved, altered poll data, in order to get a rise out of all of us, to get their rocks off.
When you try to enegage them with fact , we know they don't back it up with any credible anything. Responding with, your dumb, a fag, a stupid liberal, or whatever else they can come up with as a put down. We know that when we have presented fact, there is no response. they do not have any. so why bother??

They do not want to have any discussion at all. They do not want to hear what anyone outside of their political belief, has to say. they just accuse us of what they are guilty of doing themselves.

Let them keep drawing their own political noose tighter and tighter, we don't need or have to help them achieve their political suicide, they are doing just fine on their own.

I have made it a point to not even click on any of their posts or whatever they put on here anymore. You can't have a political or any type of discussion with anyone who truly does not want to hear what others outside of their comfort zone have to say.

Unless all of us in this country, no matter who we are, or what we believe politically or religiously, or personally, stop the yelling, and screaming and fighting and accusing of all matter of lies and half-truths, it will not be another country or militant, or terrorist organization, that brings this country to our knees, It will be ourselves.WE are turning into our own worst enemy.

A pre-existing life

by: lamb12

October 13, 2009 6:50 PM

Well, I guess I'll start with a bit of background.
I was diagnosed at age 9 with Type 1 diabetes.
For the rest of my life I will be testing my blood sugars, taking Insulin injections, and getting to know a variety of specialty doctors. Endocrinologists, kidney doctors, eye doctors, foot doctors, nutritionists, and on and on.
for the rest of my life I HAVE to keep track of carbohydrates, calories, fat, what types of food, and take Insulin to cover the amount I eat, so my sugars do not get too high.Everytime I have even something as simple as 1 hershey kiss, I am supposed to figure out the carbs and take Insulin for it.
My diabetes is NOT the same as everyone talks about on TV. It is not because I ate too much sugar, or I was overweight, or any of the other causes of Type 2 diabetes.
my pancreas crapped out and does not produce Insulin at all, kapoot, zero, nada.
Since 1979, I have been a pre-exiting cpondition.
because of this Insurance coverage has been a nightmare.
My parents always had a hard time trying to get coverage for me through their employer. I was too high risk to cover, or the cost would be astronamical. So for years they would cover me every other yr., and get things done for me that my disease required.I always had Insulin no matter the cost, without it I would be dead in two days.
I am always 2 days away from death, If I have no Insulin.
I am skipping ahead here. I am now 18 and I have to get my own Insurance. Problem is It's not available, I am a pre-existing condition. this is in 1987.
Every job I get either doesn't offer Ins. or the cost is out the roof because of my diabetes. they will give me coverage, but, ANYTHING that is related or caused by the diabetes will not be covered. Well thats no good because they say everything is related to my diabetes.
My eyes were the first casualty of my sporadic Ins. coverage. I had developped an eye condition that was slowly robbing me of my sight, I needed to have very expensive surgery, on both eyes.
I got very lucky. A doctor treated me for this and saved part of my vision. He did this for no cost, and continues to follow me now, twenty yrs. later. There was no Ins.
the lack of Insurance through the years has resulted in my poor health I am in today.I have many of the complications of diabetes, due in part to my limited access to medical providers and medicine.
I have come close to dying on more than one occassion. I had no doctor to prescribe me Insulin. Insulin is my lifeline. My fuel. You have no idea what it is like to feel your body screaming for relief from the rising sugar levels and the slow realization that $50 and a scrip could have kept this from happening.

There is so much more I could go on and on with.
So now I am 40. I am to ill to work,I have one good kidney, 2 bum eyes, and a nerve condition that requires a level 4 narcotic to treat.

Why do I talk about all of this?

Lack of healthcare.lack of access to proper treatment.
I am not alone. There are thousands of us. Who have a chronic lifetime medical condition, that requires a lifetime of treatment, a lifetime of doctors a lifetime of complications,a lifetime of maintenance.
It's expensive.You have no idea.
This is not about Republicans, or Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, black or white or anything else.
To me it's about giving everyone in this country access to affordable care.Access to preventative maintenance,to the necessities of things like Insulin, or chemo, or a mammograms, prenatal care, and all the other things that could make this country a more viable and productive nation. Healthier people are more productive.
just knowing that the access is there for you, whenever you need it, with no exclusions, no denials, no NO anywhere.
Why would you not want that??
Why are we allowing ANYONE, ANYONE, to make a profit off of our lives?
I want the public option. I want for someone who is going through the same thing I did to be able  to get coverage, to have the access I didn't to all the maintaining it takes for Diabetes.
I guess some will never understand until they have to walk a mile in the uninsured, or underinsured, or premium increased every year, hoping for no denial of a life saving treatment, persons shoes.

A call for questions!!!

by: lamb12

September 26, 2009 2:33 PM

hello all my leftake buddies.

Well the time has come for my town to have a town hall meeting with our Congressman Connie Mack.

If you live in the area or near the area, I strongly encourage you to register to attend through his website which is:

http://mack.house.gov
It will be Fri. Oct.2 from 7-9pm at the Harborside Event Center
1375 Monroe St.
Ft. Myers FL 33901

I got his little propaganda notice in the mail.

The following statement was printed on it explaining his stance on Healthcare.

"I oppose the attempt to nationalize our health care industry. Some call it Universal Healthcare: others call it nationalized healthcare or socialized medicine. regardless of what you call it, it's a bad idea.

Congress should be moving in the exact opposite direction, towards greater individual and market freedoms.Congress needs workable solutions to control the rising costs of healthcare, rather than a risky plan that puts government in control of your healthcare decisions. Market based ideas always encourage competition, innovation, and in this case, life-saving medical advances. It's the kind of prescription are ailing health care system desperatly needs.

Please join me for my health care forum on Friday Oct.2 2009 to discuss solutions that preserve the patient-doctor relationshio, ensure limited government, and safeguard individual freedoms."

His little pamphlet also contains a few bullet points such as:
1. Allowing small businesses to pool together to purchase health Insurance to offer their employees better health coverage options at a
reasonable cost. By pooling together into small business health plans, employers spread the risk for costly medical procedures over larger groups of people.
2. Giving every American greater control over their health care decisions through health savings accounts, which bring more competition to the insurance market.
3. Curbing frivolous medical malpractice lawsuits through medical liability reform. When I was in the State Legislature , I fought the Plaintiffs' attorneys and passed a state constitutional amendment that ensures that victims and not their attorneys, receive the majority of any compensation or recovery. Tort reform could save billions of dollars that are wasted each year in defensive medicine.
3. Creating tax incentives, not, penalties, for individuals who have health Insurance.

So now that you all have read this, heres my request to all of you.

Whether you can attend or not, I am asking all of you to propose a question that I can ask him.

I have a few I am kicking around, but, I am totally accepting suggestions.

I am prepared to battle the baggers, and racists slurs and all else the good ol' Rush Runners and Beckheads will no doubtedly be sporting and I am will be calm and calculated and will not rise to the baiting. I just want one or two really good questions to ask of him given the chance.

So please suggest away!!

I will follw up on the outcome of this forum on Friday night.
